ATTIVITA' DI RICERCA
My current PhD project is focused in unraveling human population history, using whole genome sequence data from extant populations, to elucidate the issue of ancient interaction between modern humans and archaic human species, such as Neandertals. For this end, I use newly available high-throughput genome sequencing technologies and cutting-edge statistical methods, to detect putatively archaic introgressed regions that might still be lingering in the genomes of contemporary populations. The identification of introgressed genomic regions will help to reveal details of the interaction between modern humans and archaic forms, that may be occurred tens of thousands of years ago.
