Somatic chromosome of Acipenser ruthenus L.

This paper describes the karyotype of the sterlet (Acipenser ruthenus L.). The chromosomes of 44 mitotic metaphases were conntent the average chromosome number is 2 n=116±4. A comparative analysis of the kariotypes of the two formes of sterlet, with longer and more pointed nose, and with short nose does not show any difference in the number and in the morphology of the chromosomes.
