Some problems of the chromosome distribution in the metaphase plates of great sturgeon, Huso huso (L)

The nonrandom distribution of the homologous chromosomes in the metaphase plates of great sturgeon, Huso huso (L.) , was shown. The universal index R0=0.9331 ± 0.003 in units of radius, being the distance between two random points in the plate with arbitrary square and shape, was determined. An average experimental distance R1 between some homologous chromosomes is sufficiently (P>0.999) less than R0, due to the existence of some dependences in the chromosome distribution in metaphase plates. The large bi-armed chromosomes (6 pairs) there proved to lie essentially further from the centre of the plate than others.
